This vintage classic takes you back to 1984, when the great Dwight "Doc" Gooden burst onto the scene to lead the Mets 1980s renaissance. From 18-year-old single-A prospect in 1983, to Rookie of the Year in '84, to Cy Young in '85, and then World Series Champion in '86, no one else in Major League history rose to those accomplishments so young and so fast. Featuring an incredible shot of a rookie Dwight on the mound in one of his earliest Major League starts, this is a true classic for your wall. As with all posters in the "White Border" Sports Illustrated design that spanned the years 1978-1987, this one features the best of Sports Illustrated photography, the iconic white-bordered layout, and a facsimile signature from the player himself as part of the design.
This particular poster was obtained as part of our "Toledo Collection", obtained from a collector in Ohio who preserved his large collection of old 1980s Sports Illustrated posters flat, never displayed on the wall, and virtually untouched since purchasing them out of store racks back in the day. This one displays as well as it would have back in the 1980s, with just some minor typical imperfections consistent with any poster purchased at that time.
